JULY 6 (Promises on the 29th year)

I know I’m your worst critique

I know I say the meanest things to you and hardly offer you any kindness

I know I act oblivious to your needs and never offer you a shoulder to lean on

I guess, somehow, you can say I’m your worst enemy…

I know what it looks like…

Trust me, that’s not what it is…

I love you…

And these are my promises to you henceforth;

I promise to be kinder to you

To acknowledge your needs and to actively work on them

To intentionally love you…

I promise to buy you flowers

To always remind you of how beautiful you are

Open doors for you

To dance with you along the beach

And take road trips with you

To travel the world with you and experience various cuisines with you

To take pictures of you and drink wine with you at random hours …

To visit theatres and attend concerts with you

To buy you beautiful heels, pretty clothes and take you to fancy restaurants

To go swimming with you

To cozy up in bed and have lazy conversations

To pray with you and for you

To kiss your forehead before you go to bed each night

To send you random gifts and write you love letters.

To encourage you and be your biggest cheerleader…

To hug you on your happy and not so happy days

To be your shoulder to cry on

To crack jokes for you just so I can hear your laughter

I promise to be present with and for you every step of the way

So help me God…

Cheers to self-love
